Netpower has delivered:

From Excel to a complete line-of-business system

iQbank started life as a tool for credit cases – a way to collect the relevant data, analyse accounts and assess risk. The collaboration with Netpower began as a pilot project with one simple need: to move an Excel-based solution onto a more robust, modern web platform. What started as a small project has since grown into an extensive line-of-business system in daily use at several banks.

The first web-based version launched. The system has developed considerably since then, in both functionality and usability. Today iQbank is not merely a credit calculation tool, but a complete line-of-business system.

Modern, easy-to-use design

Development of iQbank started with a simple prototype that recreated the functionality of the spreadsheet. It worked, but the design covered only the bare minimum. A new visual identity was developed over time, with a focus on the user journey as a whole. The result is an interface that is modern, clear and built for complex work processes.

Integrations with external data sources

Building integrations with external data sources has been a central focus. The solution is currently connected to, among others:

This makes it possible to pull up-to-date information on accounts, ownership and credit data directly – work that previously had to be entered by hand.

– Advisers can quickly simulate how a company would be affected by different scenarios using fresh figures, and so give their customers better, more precise advice, says Atle Solberg, Netpower’s project manager.

Security first

When banks are the end users, the security requirements are extremely high. Data security has therefore been a fundamental priority from the very start of development. iQbank is tested regularly through both internal and external quality checks to ensure stability and safety.

The combination of modern technology, quality assurance processes and secure log-in routines means users can trust that data is handled safely and that the solution meets the sector’s strict security requirements.

CRM functionality

Another important extension to the system has been the CRM module.

– As well as handling credit and accounting data, iQbank now has its own CRM module. That makes it possible to gather and structure customer information directly in the system, instead of having data scattered across several places or different tools, says Solberg.

With CRM built in, users get a complete overview of customers and open cases. All the relevant information – from contact details and customer history to linked credit cases and accounting data – sits in one place. That simplifies follow-up, improves documentation and makes it easier to build long-term customer relationships.

The solution is built with Angular on the frontend, C# and .NET Core on the backend, and SQL Server as the database.

A strong system built for specialists

Over the years, iQbank has developed from a simple Excel tool into a modern, integrated system for banks and their advisers. The results show up in everyday work:

  • Faster, more precise analysis that gives confidence in the basis for decisions
  • Less manual work and automatically updated data
  • An intuitive, easy-to-use interface that simplifies complex processes

Netpower has been responsible for the technical delivery, hosting and continuous advice, while iQbank has contributed industry knowledge and a close dialogue with end users. That combination has been decisive in hitting the mark with the target audience.

Users tell us that iQbank feels like a professional, dependable system made for specialists. It brings confidence, a better workflow and greater efficiency to credit work.

A decade of close collaboration

One important success factor has been the close working relationship between iQbank and Netpower from day one. As the only Netpower employee in Northern Norway, Solberg sat next door to iQbank for several years, which made for short lines of communication and quick answers day to day.

Håvard Tømmerås, Managing Director of iQbank, says this about the collaboration:

– The close collaboration with Netpower has been decisive in succeeding in a market that is hard to break into. Netpower’s expertise and willingness to help matter a great deal for our continued development.

The collaboration has stretched beyond Norway’s borders as well. iQbank has joined Netpower’s business trips to Vietnam, where part of the development team is based, on several occasions. That has added an extra dimension to the partnership, with direct dialogue between the customer and the developers.

– Not many customers come along to Vietnam to meet some of the developers based there, but it says something about how close the relationship has been, Solberg explains.

Continued adaptation

As a smaller player in a competitive market, it is essential for iQbank to stay agile and close to its customers’ needs. Banking changes quickly: new regulations arrive, reporting requirements shift, and expectations of digital solutions keep rising. Meeting that means developing the system continuously.

Atle Solberg

Atle Solberg, Project Manager at Netpower:

– The system architecture is built so that we can easily add new features and adapt to new needs and regulatory changes. That is how we make sure iQbank stays a valuable tool in the years ahead, says Solberg.
