Tape is an add-on to our disk-based backup services, never a replacement. What it adds is a copy nobody can reach over the network.

Data is written to tape
Data has to sit on disk before it can be written to tape. That is why tape arrives as an add-on to the disk-based backup services.

The cartridge comes out
Once a cartridge has been written, we take it out of the robot. From that moment there is no route to the data over any network.
