Netpower / Job openings / Software AI Engineer
Netpower WEB Solutions
Software AI Engineer
We used to call this Software Developer. The job is not that any more.

Are you a fast coder? We are not hiring for that.
We already have people in-house who can write software. Good people. That is not a hole we need to fill.
What we do not have enough of is people who can sit with a customer, understand what the software should actually do, and tell Claude Code, Codex or Grok how to build it. Then stand behind the result.
We think that before long you will barely look at the code. Judging whether it is the right thing is the job. Talking to the customer is the job. Directing the tools is the job. Winning a typing contest is not.
This is not a slight on the engineers who work here. They are why we can be picky. We are hiring the person who makes their work – and the AI’s work – worth doing.
Who we are looking for
Someone who:
- Can run a customer meeting without a finished specification
- Has shipped software, so they notice when the AI is confidently wrong
- Uses Claude Code, Codex or Grok as the default way to build, not as a demo
- Cares more about whether the customer got the right thing than about how many lines they wrote
- Takes a solution from the first conversation to something that runs in production
- Is comfortable having several projects on the go at once, and owns the delivery
Who we are not looking for
- «Send me a ticket and a .NET task»
- People who want to be left alone with a backlog until Friday
- Anyone whose best argument is how fast they type
How the work looks
We are not a consultancy that parks you at the customer’s office. At Netpower WEB Solutions you work in our own team in Stavanger. Several projects at once, different industries, real ownership – from the first conversation to live software. You stay on after launch. That part has not changed.
What has changed is the craft. Very little of the future job is typing code. Most of it is understanding people, deciding what to build, and directing AI until the result is something you would put your name on.
If that sounds like less of a job: this is not the advert. If it sounds like the interesting bit, with the typing handed to a machine: apply.
What do you get with us?
- A great deal of freedom to shape your own working day and your own deliveries, against clear goals
- Variety: you are not locked into one project, but contribute to several – large and small
- Colleagues with deep technical expertise in a calm and friendly environment
- A personal budget for professional development
- Flexible working hours
- Free parking, and plenty of parking spaces
- Showers and changing rooms for the active types
- A free gym in the same building as the office
- The HjemJobbHjem commuter scheme
- A canteen, with dessert on Fridays
- Health insurance
- Cover for exercise or DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) membership
